Organisation Setup
Before any data means anything, Slate needs to know who you are, where you operate, and what reporting period you're working in. This is all configured in one place.
The six tabs
General Info
Organisation name, industry, category, address and logo.
Facility
The sites you report for, each with its own location.
Facility Map
A map view of every facility with coordinates set.
Reporting Year
The reporting periods your data gets grouped into.
Emission Factors
Which factor publishers to use, in what order, and how strict to be about gaps.
Reporting Assets
Disposal sites, land parcels and forest stands, for the land-use and waste-site calculation categories.
General Info
Organisation name, industry, category, address, postal code, province, country, and a logo upload. The Save changes button only sends the fields you actually edited, if you click it with nothing changed, Slate just tells you there's nothing to save rather than submitting an empty update.
Facility
Use the + Add New button to create a facility: name, facility type, country, address, city and postal/zip code are all set here. You can either type latitude and longitude directly, or click Choose from map to drop a pin, which fills in the coordinates (and postal code, where available) for you.
Each facility can be flagged as your organisation's current one with a per-row Set as Current button. Use the search box and the Filter by Region selector to find a facility once you have several.
Note
Facility Map
Every facility with coordinates set appears as a marker. Click a marker for a quick card showing its code, city, country and address, useful for sanity-checking that a facility actually landed where you meant it to.
Reporting Year
Give each reporting period a name, a start and end date, a frequency (annual, semi-annual, quarterly or monthly) and a status. Only one reporting year is active at a time, use the per-row Set Active button to switch, this is the reporting year new records default to.
Emission Factors
This is where the factor source order lives, the same setting Factor Resolution describes mechanically. In practice, you get:
Factor source order
A reorderable list of enabled publishers, with up/down arrows and a remove button per row. The first entry is your preferred source; add more as fallbacks from the dropdown below the list. On a data gap, the chain tries every source in order before giving up, so adding a fallback is what decides whether a gap errors or is covered by the next source. There is no separate setting for that.
Site location
A checkbox controlling whether a facility's country restricts which categories can be entered for it.
Global warming potentials
A checkbox that flags rows mixing GWP vintages, this is what produces the amber warning icon on Calculated Emissions tables.
Additional emission components
Checkboxes for well-to-tank, transmission & distribution losses, and outside-of-scopes biogenic CO2, each calculated as its own line item when enabled.
Reporting Assets
Three asset types feed the land-use and waste-site calculation categories, each tied to a facility:
Disposal sites
Site management type, cover type and climate zone, plus a per-site disposal history (year, waste type, tonnes) used for operated landfill methane calculations.
Land parcels
Mineral soil area, climate region, soil type, and a history of management states (land use, management level, input level per year), used for land carbon stock calculations.
Forest stands
Area, ecological zone, forest kind and species group, used for forest land carbon growth and removal calculations.
You don't need to set these up unless you actually use the corresponding Emission Data categories (Operated Landfill, Land Carbon Stock, Forest Land Carbon), most organisations will never touch this tab.
